The data in this Jupiter map were taken during Hubble Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy program observations of the planet using the Wide Field Camera 3 on NASA's Hubble Space Telescope from 2:00 UT to 12:30 UT on Jan. 19, 2015.

About the colours

The image is a composite of separate exposures acquired by the WFC3 instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope. Several filters were used to sample narrow wavelength ranges. The color results from assigning different hues (colors) to each monochromatic (grayscale) image associated with an individual filter. In this case, the assigned colors are: Blue: F395N (395 nm) Green: F502N (502 nm) Red: F631N (631 nm)

About the data

The image was created from Hubble data from proposal 13937 : A. Simon (GSFC), M. Wong (UC Berkeley), and G. Orton (JPL-Caltech).
